Story

Even a broken clock is right once a day.
Someday, my clock will be right too.
I sometimes think about the day this clock stopped. If the time back then was broken. If it was just one of those days when it was right only once.
People seem to easily allow the time they've let slip away under the name of regret. Surely, the time spent like that will someday become a blade that pierces them.
I've developed a habit of recording everything I've left on this clock. And, without realizing it, I sometimes look at that time as if it were a photograph.
My precious one doesn't exist in any part of that time. I feel, every time, that I should cherish time.
It sometimes feels like a funny joke that the owner of a time-manipulating Weapon thinks this way.
At those times, I just want to laugh it off lightly, but every time I unveil the veil of time, unbearable pain flows out and breaks the hinges of the door in my heart.
And it makes the clock that is me run its own course.
Even as we sit still, birds chirp, rivers flow, rocks erode, and people age.
Time is said to be fair, but it's incredibly unfair. It only becomes valuable to those who use it well.
In this feeling of unfairness, while spending days of regret, I met someone.
"Won't you come with me?"

Hajin is an excellent butler. You could say he's a jack-of-all-trades.
Despite being young, he's meticulous and reliable in his work. From cleaning to cooking, and even repairing old furniture, there's nothing he can't do. The fact that the Rooks mansion is kept so tidy is all thanks to Hajin. Even Sacha, who teases Hajin for being boring every day, acknowledges his exceptional household skills.
Hajin helps in many areas beyond household chores. He occasionally assists with paperwork related to the domain. He's so good at document work that he surpasses most clerks. Sometimes, he even helps with weapon maintenance and soldier training.
Now that I think about it, there's truly no area where Hajin hasn't been helpful.
How did I meet Hajin, you ask? You might not know, but Hajin was originally an assassin. He was quite a well-known assassin in the underworld. However, he experienced something within the organization and left it.
I don't know what it was. Hajin hasn't told me to this day. But whenever the topic comes up, I notice a hint of sadness in his eyes, suggesting he went through quite a painful experience.
While wandering after leaving the organization, people who hid their identities approached Hajin and requested an assassination.
Whose assassination, you ask? It was mine.
Do you know how nerve-wracking it is to meet an assassin late at night? Especially if that assassin is Hajin. It was a stroke of luck that I was on guard against assassination at the time. Otherwise, I would have been caught off guard.
After barely subduing Hajin, I saw the emptiness in his eyes. He looked like a man searching for a place to die.
So, I offered him a chance to join me. I thought it was a waste for someone as skilled as Hajin to have such a look in his eyes.
Now, I'm incredibly grateful that I extended my hand to Hajin that day. I can't even imagine the Rooks Domain without him.

Are you talking about Sacha and Artnis? Both are a great help to Glacia's activities. Artnis mainly gathers information at Pereus's ballroom, so it's usually Sacha who acts with me in the Rooks Domain.
Sacha and I, well... you could say we're rivals. Rampart says that Sacha and I get along well, but... even if it's Rampart's words, I can't agree with that.
Sacha always says something to me when we meet.
"There are three things I hate: boring people, dull people, and tedious people. You know who I'm talking about, right?"
I can't count how many times I've heard this. It's become so repetitive that it's almost ingrained in my ears.
I once practiced jokes. Although I gave up on jokes afterward, Sacha's constant teasing made me decide to practice jokes again. I got a bit tired of being called a boring man by Sacha.
After that, I looked into how to tell jokes well. I listened carefully to others' jokes and read related books. I practiced repeatedly and tried telling jokes to people around me. But everyone looked at me with strange eyes after hearing my jokes. Some even looked at me with genuine concern.
Do you know what the worst part is? The person who seriously worried about me was none other than Sacha. She genuinely seemed concerned as if I had a serious problem. More than anything, Sacha's sincere concern hit me hard.
If I had known it would turn out like this, I really should have stopped practicing jokes.

As you know, the ability of my Weapon is to manipulate time. It's a Weapon with many limitations, but it possesses equally powerful strength.

There are three main abilities. The first, as you may have experienced, is the ability to show the future. It is possible to show the future of myself or others.

The future seen through this ability is merely one of the possible futures, not a predetermined one. No matter how likely a future may seem, it might not occur, and even an impossible-looking future can be realized.

That's why I struggle, looking at countless futures to grasp the one I desire. It's the best ability for preparing for the future. The downside is that it severely consumes HP.

The second ability is to manipulate the time of objects. I can make time flow, reverse it, or even stop it. It's the most powerful and frequently used ability, but it's equally difficult to handle and has many limitations.

The third is the ability to see the past of a target. I can see the time recorded in objects or view and show others' memories. So sometimes, I show others their past memories. However, I cannot see my own memories. I've tried several times, but... I've never been able to see my past.

What could be the reason? I don't know myself. Is it a curse placed on those who wield a Weapon that manipulates time, or is it my heart refusing to look back on those memories? Whatever the answer is... it's a bit frightening.
