Story

Sacha's oldest memory was of the orphanage.

An old house, a kind lady, and a red-haired young girl.

Despite their contrasting personalities as much as their hair color, they got along like sisters.

The red-haired young girl was the only person Sacha, who had been hurt by people, could open her heart to.

The two, who seemed like they would always be together, were separated when they were adopted into different homes.

Sacha's family, who ran a prestigious weapons company, made money through various conflicts and wars around the world.

Misfortune becomes money, especially if it's war. So people pointed fingers at Sacha's family, who ran the munitions company, calling them vulgar.

Not long after being adopted, Sacha realized that they had adopted her as a superficial act of charity to shed their vulgar label.

Expensive clothes, expensive cosmetics, expensive accessories. Everything was given, but there was always an emptiness in the center of Sacha's heart.

She never replied to the letters from the red-haired young girl, who was adopted into a modest family and claimed to be happy every day, for that reason.

She didn't want to show how unhappily she was living, nor did she want to reveal her desire to live well out of spite.

When Sacha, who lived a shell of a life, became an adult, she chose the path of a bounty hunter.

Sacha enjoyed hunting down wanted criminals labeled as the "evil" of society, wielding a gun made by a competitor of her parents' company.

The idea that she was having a positive impact on a disconnected society and the feeling of actively shaping her own destiny were very appealing to her.

One day, while looking over wanted posters as usual, she suddenly noticed a familiar face. It was the beloved face of the girl who had laughed energetically by her side in childhood, buried in her memory.

Finally meeting her at a bar, Sacha smiled at her unchanged face, but her heart ached at the drastically different expression.

Unable to continue the conversation, she intended to leave after issuing a warning that there would be no next time if she didn't stop.

Hoping her friend would find a new life.

But as Sacha turned to leave, her friend made an intriguing proposal. A significant offer that could completely change her friend's life.

And it was an offer that would become the biggest turning point in Sacha's life as well.

"Ah, people can be so bothersome."

A few days ago, Sacha received a request to capture a wanted criminal. The case seemed to be progressing smoothly. They quickly discovered the criminal's location, and the pursuit was going well.

Until the criminal fled to the Rooks Domain.

"Sigh. The cold is bad for the skin."

The criminal had entered the Rooks Domain in light clothing. Such attire wouldn't allow them to last long in Rooks. The client's request to bring the criminal back alive echoed in Sacha's mind.

There was no choice. The only option was to catch the criminal as quickly as possible and get out of Rooks.

Sacha headed towards Rooks, following the footprints etched in the snow, and arrived at a canyon with steep cliffs.

At the deepest part of the canyon, Sacha found the fallen criminal on the snow and a man.

"You're a minute late."
Sacha frowned at the man speaking in riddles and squinted at him.

"An accomplice... or an assassin?"
"You have a keen eye. However, I didn't come here for this man, but to meet you, Sacha."

At the man's words, Sacha roughly loaded her gun.

"That's not how you ask for a date. You might want to learn a bit about handling women."
"Don't misunderstand. I came to offer you a proposal."

The man extended his hand towards Sacha. A clock with unmoving hands glinted in the light on his hand.

"Would you like to see the future that awaits?"

Sigh.
Honestly, I'm not the type to make friends easily. I've lived a rather rough life. Because of that, I'm a bit overly cautious. Well, you can tell, right?
Do you know what I do first when I meet someone new? I try to figure them out. What are their traits, their weaknesses, why did they approach me, and how can I overpower them if needed.
Quite a tiresome woman, aren't I?
As a result, there aren't many people who want to stay around me. Even if they try to get close, I push them away first. There are even fewer who try to approach me first. And I don't really like those kinds of people. Most of them are up to something strange.
But... you're quite peculiar. You approached me without hesitation, didn't you? It's been a long time since someone broke down my defenses in such a short time. Somehow, you remind me of my one and only precious friend.
You're incredibly, incredibly impressive. So much so that I don't want to let you go now.
I hope we can remain on good terms in the future. As you know, I'm good at remembering people and tracking them. I remember all your traits without missing a single one. I can find you wherever you go.
So don't run away, and let's stay on good terms from now on.
Alright?

To Artnis

The wind in Rooks is so cold. I've been here for quite a while, but I just can't seem to get used to this chill. Honestly, I'm more worried about my skin getting damaged than the cold itself.

I met someone quite interesting recently. They travel the country researching the finest liquors. You know, the kind of exquisite liquor you always sang about, saying you'd have no other wish if you could just taste it once.

At first, I thought he was just a braggart, just a drunkard who liked his drink a bit too much. But he spoke so confidently about his skill in making liquor that I got curious. So, I decided to help him make the liquor in exchange for two bottles as payment.

There were many events along the way, but we finally managed to make two bottles of wine from Thorned Pomegranate. And the liquor was truly beyond imagination in taste. Even though I'm not one to enjoy overdrinking, I ended up drinking both bottles by myself. I can honestly say it was one of the best liquors I've ever tasted in my life.

It's too precious a drink to enjoy alone, so I got an extra bottle from the man to send to you. You must try it. You won't regret it. But don't overdrink and trouble the managers too much.

Your friend, Sacha
