Story

Under the night sky, Yuri marveled at Pharos, which drove away the darkness with its brilliant light.
"That's why Pharos is called the lighthouse that saves the world. I wonder if I can join Pharos? It would be amazing to become a Warden!"
Yuri thought as she fiddled with her boots. The young girl's movements were swift, yet there was a heavy resolve in her heart.
"I can run faster than anyone. But is that enough?"
"Do I really have to give everything to become a Warden?"
"No... I've already made up my mind."
When leaving her hometown, she felt at least a bit relieved. But now, standing before Pharos, her tense body began to feel heavy.
The destination of her journey, which she started to keep a promise to a friend, was right in front of her, yet her body didn't move as easily as she thought it would.
Feeling the cool breeze that carried the spirit of the night, she sat on a rock on the ridge to catch her breath.
A small doll given by a friend was in her backpack. Despite her bold declaration of becoming an adult, it was a cherished item she hadn't yet sorted out.
"Ah, get a grip! I have to become a great Warden!"
After shouting loudly towards the night sky, she stood up. Just as she was about to descend the mountain with steps neither light nor heavy, she noticed a man sitting on a rock on the ridge.
Worried that he might be lost, Yuri cautiously approached the wanderer who seemed to be in a similar situation to hers.
"Are you lost? I can guide you down the path... Oh!"
A thin crutch supported the man's body. Despite his difficulty moving, he stood tall on the rock on the ridge. The stars reflected in his eyes seemed to make his sad gaze sparkle.
"I came here to find the stars. I struggled to climb up and capture them in my eyes, but now I have no way to get down."
His voice, filled with despair, made Yuri's heart sink.
"I'll help you!"
For some reason, Yuri decided to help him and carried him on her back down the mountain. As they descended, they talked about their hometowns and dreams they couldn't let go of.
Perhaps because the starlight was so bright, every little story felt like it was shining. When they safely reached the bottom of the ridge and were about to part ways, the man spoke to Yuri.
"Thanks to a Warden like you, someone like me can have dreams. Thank you for helping me."
Before she could correct his misunderstanding, the man limped away. Although he mistook Yuri for a Warden, his words somehow gave her great strength.
The fact that being a Warden could give strength to others stirred her heart.
"I must set off! To Pharos!"
With infinitely lighter steps, Yuri ran towards Pharos.

Junior! How was your day today?
Did you train? Did you have a hearty meal? Were you able to keep up with your tasks?
I'm glad to see you're having a great day! There's nothing more joyful for a senior than seeing their junior doing well!
Oh, are you asking about my senior? Of course, I have many seniors. They're all wonderful people. Among them, the most memorable would be... definitely Senior Theodore.
When I first became a Warden, I was just an ordinary kid from the countryside, except for being a Nemonic. I became a Warden purely out of admiration, without knowing what a Warden does or what I should do. Looking back, it's amazing I became a Warden. Isn't determination the key?
So, Director Nain, who was concerned about me, assigned me directly under Senior Theodore. Many were surprised by Director Nain's bold decision. Senior Theodore was an instructor for new Warden training and didn't usually take direct juniors.
Thinking back, Senior Theodore must have had a hard time teaching me. Yet, he never gave up on me. He always taught me sincerely.
Of course, besides Senior Theodore, many other seniors helped me. Thanks to their help, I could become a proper Warden. Watching everyone who helped me, I decided to become a great senior who can help juniors someday.
I later found out that Director Nain paired me with Senior Theodore hoping we would positively influence each other. I was to learn how to act as a Warden from Senior Theodore, and he was to learn flexibility and a bright personality from me.
As Director Nain intended, I learned many things necessary for a Warden from Senior Theodore.
Oh, did Senior Theodore change a bit? Do you think so?

The young girl's hometown was a small rural village.
A forest dense with trees that blocked the sky, holding the darkness. A vast meadow stretching beyond the horizon. It was a secluded rural village with no travelers.
To the young girl, the world consisted entirely of the meadow and forest surrounding her. Even that seemed vast to a girl who knew nothing of the outside world.
One day, a visitor came to the village. It was a woman in unusual attire. She introduced herself as a Warden.
"Warden? That's a peculiar name!"
"Warden isn't a name... never mind."
The Warden said she would be staying in the village for a few months due to work. The girl visited the Warden every day. Each time she visited, the Warden greeted her with a smiling face.
The Warden occasionally told the girl stories of the outside world. Stories beyond the horizon. Tales of a vast world unknown to the girl. These stories, which she had never heard before, made the girl's heart race.
"But are those stories true? Is there really such a thing outside?"
"Have you been living under a rock? How about we go see it with your own eyes?"
Intrigued by the Warden's suggestion to see the outside world, Yuri hesitantly took her hand. She was curious about what lay beyond the horizon, which she thought was the end of the world.
The place they reached after walking for days was beyond Yuri's imagination. Strange creatures, countless people, towering buildings. None of these could be seen in her village.
"Amazing! It's nothing like our village!"
"There are things much bigger and more wonderful than this in the world."
"That's awesome! I want to travel the world like a Warden when I grow up!"
"Haha. I'm sure you'll do great."
After completing her mission, the Warden left the village, and it was much later that Yuri learned that Warden was not a name but a title for a Nemonic belonging to Pharos.
If I go to Pharos, I can become a Warden. Then I can travel the vast world like her.
It was a small but significant reason why the young girl dreamed of becoming a Warden.

Aren't chicks just wonderful? How cute they are, being small and yellow. Seeing those adorable chicks waddling around makes me happy without even realizing it.
When I was young, we used to raise chicks at home. There were about six cute little chicks. They were so adorable that whenever I had time, I would watch them walk around the yard. Later, a wild animal came down and ate all the chicks... I cried my eyes out back then.
Anyway! I really love chicks. I can confidently say that the cutest animal in the world is the chick. That's why my favorite book is the Chick Detective.
Chick Detective is a truly wonderful book. Not only is it an exciting mystery novel, but the protagonist is an adorable chick!
My hobby is collecting Chick Detective books. Whenever I go to another region on a mission for Pharos, I make sure to visit the local bookstores. Did you know? Even the same Chick Detective book has slight differences in the cover depending on the region. Chick Detective enthusiasts travel around the country to collect all the different covers when a new book is released. Some criticize it as a marketing ploy targeting the wallets of fans, though.
I'm not that extreme, but I'm a fan who has collected quite a few goods. Among them are special limited edition items that even true enthusiasts find hard to obtain! Wouldn't you like to see them? If it's you, my junior, I can show them to you specially.
Oh? You know someone who likes Chick Detective? Hehehe. A fan of Chick Detective, I'd love to meet them! Warden Yuri, when it comes to the love for Chick Detective, won't lose to anyone!
