Overview
Canary, the new Light element Supporter, has a kit that is very focused on protecting her teammates through attack gauge manipulation, invincibility, and even resurrection.
Why Canary?
Pros:
High Base Speed (118)
Light element means element-neutral, and therefore can be brought into a wider variety of matchups.
Has built-in MP recovery, damage mitigation, and AOE hate
Variety in possible build options
Full Team Revive/Invincibility
Cons:
She doesn't counter the current PvP meta of Libertas
Kit too PvP focused
Her Invincibility gimmick could already be done with Bernice
She was designed as a Turn Two PvP play, but her damage mitigation isn't enough to survive most Cleaves.
Rather than answering the current meta, the current meta already answers Her. Libertas' passive nerfs Canary's Attack Gauge boosts
Final Verdict
Q: Should you pull for Canary?
A: Not unless you Really like the character.
Canary is an interesting mixture of Shutein, Diana, and Bernice. She could be built Very fast to get her Invincibility up before the enemy Cleaves, but we already have Bernice for that. Or she can be built slow and tanky to survive the Cleave, revive her team, and then Revenge attack, however her damage mitigation is very low and is conditional on the enemy using AOE attacks. Most cleave teams will still be able to get through her extra defenses. And like i said her Attack Gauge boosts are hamstrung in PvP since most people will have Libertas.
So she doesn't really have an obvious home in the current meta, though that isn't to say she'll be useless. She is designed to help the team take a big hit and then recover for a big attack of their own, and in lower ranked matches that may still work. eventually the enemys' damage output will outpace her protection capabilities though. If you're determined to try anyway, use the new Gear Set (Cadellra Armor) and stack HP on her. Maybe pair her with Ravi.
