Is it about Bernice? The Initiate Knight, Bernice?
Bernice is remarkable. She's honest and hardworking, and her training is intense. In the Royal Knights, there's probably no one more passionate about training than her.
Her strength is outstanding, and many of her comrades owe their lives to her in battle. From any perspective, she's an indispensable talent in the Royal Knights of Pereus.
In fact, Bernice shouldn't just be an initiate knight. Her strength is exceptional, her battle achievements are impressive, and she's also a Nemonic.
Though the Knights have many Nemonics, it's not common for a Nemonic to remain an initiate Knight. But Bernice is still an initiate Knight because of Lord Ferrancy.
Knights who can act alongside the commander are called the commander's assistants, a prestigious position chosen through rigorous selection. It's considered the highest rank a knight can achieve.
Even the commander cannot freely choose an assistant. The position requires exceptional strength and overwhelming achievements that are recognized by other knights.
Although Bernice is an excellent knight, she hasn't reached that level yet. So normally, she wouldn't be able to stay close to Lord Ferrancy.
But if she's an initiate Knight, the situation changes. Initiate Knights assist official knights, and an official knight can choose an initiate Knight to assist them.
That's why Lord Ferrancy selected Bernice as his initiate Knight and keeps her by his side.
In most cases, the position of Initiate Knight is merely honorary. Usually, noble children bribe the commander to become initiate Knights to advance their careers.
So when Bernice became the commander's initiate Knight, everyone was shocked. Bernice clearly came from a rural, commoner background, with no means to bribe anyone. Moreover, Lord Ferrancy isn't someone who would accept bribes.
It's said that Bernice underwent rigorous training under the commander. It seems the commander intends to groom her into a reliable assistant. Being chosen by the commander… while Bernice is happy, I can't help but feel a bit sorry for her.
