He was a bandit who lived on Mt. Tigerwolf with Ledon. Although they were called bandits, they did not have a large number of subordinates and were basically a small group of people just trying to make a living on Mt. Tigerwolf through the brigand's "trade."
With strength honed through banditry, he easily wields a two-handed broad axe. A single swing of his enormous weapon can be immensely destructive.
Kessler felt helpless, unable to do anything about the Empire's unreasonable system of rule. However, wasn't he, with his righteous indignation towards the Empire, also a bandit harming people? This hypocrisy was a major problem that troubled Kessler and made him feel ashamed.
Kessler felt himself to be a pathetic failure and had deep respect for Odessa, who boldly challenged the Empire head-on. His wish finally came true, and he was able to join the Liberation Army, but while he savored that joy, he also felt inferior, wondering if, as a mere bandit, he was worthy to join them.
