Hero

The hero of **Suikoden I** and the eldest son of Teo McDohl, a top general of the Scarlet Moon Empire. A series of life events led to him bearing the **Rune that controls life and death** in his right hand.

Hero battles using a black rod. His rod techniques are unique, having honed the basic skills he learned from Master Kai, who once lived in Teo's home.

Toran Liberation Army Hero

As the son of Teo, one of the Five Great Generals, he was promised a bright future. However, after inheriting a Rune that controls life and death from his best friend, he becomes wanted by the Empire. While on the run, he discovers the corruption within the Empire and the wretched state of the world, and makes a life-changing decision.

Soul Eater

The **Rune of life and death** that Hero carries in his right hand is one of the 27 True Runes, with the terrifying power to determine whether someone lives or dies. This Rune has the disturbing effect of consuming the souls of its owner's close companions, regardless of the owner's wishes, which has led to it being called **Soul Eater** or the **cursed Rune**.
