MONGIL: STAR DIVE PD Lee Dongjo has released Dev Note #7, previewing the major improvements heading to Version 1.2 on July 8. The note also confirms the new character [Nagi] arrives this Wednesday, June 17.

Legendary Monsterling

Version 1.2 introduces a new tier of Monsterling: the Reginula Legendary Monsterling. It has stronger stats than existing Monsterlings and will visually accompany the equipped character on the field.

Key rules for Legendary Monsterlings:

  • One per account. Only one Legendary Monsterling can be obtained by each player.
  • It occupies a separate equipment slot and can be equipped to any character you own.
  • Because only one exists per account, it cannot carry different Rank Effects or Traits depending on the character — your choices apply globally to all equipped characters.

Dispatch System

To reduce grind fatigue on field runs, Version 1.2 adds a Dispatch System. You send a character you own to a field episode area (such as Elendor), and they automatically farm it: Monsterling capture, mining, and resource gathering all run without you playing manually.

How it works:

  • A set number of dispatches is available per day.
  • Each area can only be dispatched to once per day.
  • The amount collected through dispatching is designed to match what you would collect by playing the field yourself.
  • Nyanners’ level is reflected in the acquisition rate, so progressing her still matters.

Footwear Stats Adjustment

Footwear has historically required crafting Legendary-rarity gear to get the Role Status stat. Since Legendary Footwear is difficult to craft, the team is introducing a new stat called Role Specialization.

Changes:

  • Role Specialization is now guaranteed when crafting any Footwear.
  • When equipped to a character, it applies the stat for that character’s role (Fighter, Destroyer, etc.).
  • All Footwear you currently own will be automatically updated when the patch goes live — if you already crafted good stats on a piece that had the wrong role, it will become usable after the update.

The team is also preparing more opportunities to obtain and craft equipment through events and early missions.

Monsterling System Improvements

Three quality-of-life improvements target the difficulty and fatigue of building the Monsterling you want:

  • Mutation acquisition rate adjustment — the chance to get a mutation of your choice is being tuned down in difficulty.
  • Trait Upgrade — a new feature that lets you increase a Trait’s grade (for example, from Grade 1 to Grade 2). The maximum remains Grade 5.
  • Trait Refresh — a new feature that lets you replace a Monsterling’s existing Traits with different ones.

These systems are tied closely to game balance and the team is reviewing them carefully until the patch releases.

Mobile Convenience Improvements

Mobile players can now adjust the size, position, and transparency of the v-pad, skill buttons (bottom-right area), and UI banners. More mobile improvements are planned as feedback continues to arrive.

What’s Next

The team mentions that “MONGIL’s first summer festival” is in preparation, along with further improvements gathered through surveys and the community. More detailed version 1.2 information will be shared at a later date.

A Developer Lounge Talk livestream is scheduled for June 16 (Tue) at 10:00 UTC (Korean) on the MONGIL: STAR DIVE YouTube Sub Channel, with a Global stream following on June 17 (Wed) at 01:00 UTC on the official YouTube channel. The stream will showcase Nagi’s gameplay and include a live Q&A.
