"What kind of fun happens when a world is heading towards its end?" Mouchette didn't know, but she was looking forward to it. This anticipation was different from before; this time it wasn't just about having a bit of fun with some Ancient Monsters, it was research and investigation measured on the scale of an entire world. And at the core of this research and investigation was one person— the Keeper of Mythag. "I will save this world..." "This world will definitely not meet a fate of collapse..." That person, who held ideals and bore the fate of a world, made such a promise. In response, Mouchette knew she should show a moved expression; it was the social etiquette established in human society. But she didn't want to pretend anymore, or rather, after witnessing the Keeper confront @4, sacrificing themselves to save a world, she felt there was no need to pretend in front of someone who had experienced cosmic horror. "Pretending" was the game rule of human society—decent yet boring—while the universe... the universe was real and straightforward— either survive or perish. Thus, her response to the Keeper was also genuine and straightforward. "I don't care if this world will be saved or destroyed... Compared to that, I am more curious about you." I am curious whether you can fulfill your ideals or if you will crumble on the path of pursuing them. I am also curious whether this world will respond to your wishes or inevitably head towards destruction. No matter which outcome, it will be a grand and rare form of fun. I will always look forward to that day... with my eyes and my axe, waiting.
