Shutein

A gifted hermit chemist with a lazy personality who takes things as they come.
She possesses such superb skills that even the Royal Knights seek her help, but she has no interest in wealth or fame, so getting her help is like reaching for the stars. Even so, she occasionally accepts commissions from the Knights, usually to make money from house repairs caused by failed chemistry experiments.
She is very interested in the latest academic theories and knowledge, but due to her personality, she is rarely willing to take action herself.

Subject: Me
I still seem to be dwelling on the past.
Where is the end of the research? I can't see it at all.
Although I have come up with several reasonable methods to get rid of nightmares, it is still unknown how effective they are.
Occasionally the royal family would extend an invitation.
"You are invited to serve as the royal alchemist."
"You will be bestowed with fame and fortune."
So boring.
These things have no meaning to me anymore. Those people have no idea what is really important.
After all, you, me, all of us, the witches, and the Moon Shadow Cult are just part of science.
Being entangled in unexplainable events while selectively ignoring the truth is like a single-cell organism imprisoned in the wall of narrow knowledge, unable to move.
But now I am also trapped in this small single room.
I have to stir up a little chemistry to avoid that. So I want to study magic that can help me get rid of the past and face my memories head-on.
The basis of research is trial and error. Let's first list the different states of existence of "I"…
Ah, even writing is a hassle.
I'll write about these later...
After the Wardens and their friends disappeared for a few days.
Pharos sent a few research books to my house to fulfill the promise.
There are two things that surprised me.
First, I didn't expect them to send them so quickly.
Second, the materials they sent were fewer than I imagined.
"Pharos is so stingy…"
I even made dangerous potions like the "Whisper of the Dead," and this is all I get? An organization like Pharos is trying to send me off with just these few books?
Shutein sighed and opened the books. Since they arrived, let's see how good Pharos' research really is…
"…What is this?"
Innovative ideas I never considered. Intricate and meticulous research formulas and derivations. It made me wonder if modern technology could ever achieve the results. Shutein stared at the research books far beyond her technical ability, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"This… this is…!"
With each page she turned, amazing knowledge flooded her mind. Countless theories swept over her like a storm. At first, she had been disappointed by the few books Pharos sent her, but in truth, Pharos' reward was far more valuable than the "Whisper of the Dead" potion.
She focused entirely on reading the materials, finishing all the books Pharos sent her in a single day. When she reached the last page, Shutein closed the book with both excitement and regret.
"If I'd known it would be like this… I should've asked for more reward…"

Experimenter: Me
Today's weather is great. A gentle breeze, no sticky humidity, and both the sun and moon shining brightly.
What's the most important thing for an experimenter? The correct sequence and precise measurement of materials.
Even the finest ingredients can turn into deadly poison if the order or dosage is wrong. This is a fundamental mistake no scientist should ever make. Anyone who can't even manage that has no business in research.
But just as monkeys fall from trees and Lalog trips while running, even a genius scientist can slip up.
And wouldn't you know it, my mistake happened at the worst possible time—just when I was feeling a bit too excited about potion-making again.
It was just a potion that explodes if the dosage is slightly off. No big deal.
I'd never make a mistake like that under normal circumstances.
Absolutely not.
Something like… blowing out all the windows in my home with an explosion? That would never happen.
…So, where am I sleeping tonight?
How do I even begin to explain this to the landlady…?
Maybe I should just go to bed and deal with it tomorrow…
I've been in this village for a while now.
I used to stay indoors most of the time…
but lately, for some reason, I've been going out more.
And now… people are starting to recognize me.
It's such a hassle… seriously, such a hassle…
Where are they even hearing about me being a famous chemist?!
The moment someone recognizes me, they start asking me for medicine.
A potion to grow taller… A potion to help with sleep… A potion to improve eyesight…
One time, a middle-aged man asked me to make a potion to grow his hair back.
I told him that was beyond my abilities. The look on his face… It was like he was screaming inside.
Even a genius chemist has limits...
I appreciate that people recognize me,
but I'd rather they not get too close…
Dealing with so many people is just too much trouble...
