If a light cannot burn away darkness, can it still be considered light?

The red light burning the skin, the black blood flowing through the blood vessels,

the pungent smell of burning, and the unnaturally twisted legs.

The skin that was once fair and translucent due to lack of sun exposure, the healthy rosy complexion,

the soft fragrance that brushes against the tip of your nose, and two beautiful straight legs.

These are two different versions of the description of the same person,

who is exactly his sister.

His sister became a completely different person in front of him. After becoming the target of Moon Shadow Cult, his sister was abandoned because she was not a vessel for a witch. The only thing Xeon could do, hiding in the dark, was to watch his sister suffer silently.

Holding the spear, he wondered, "Why was this spear given to me?" The boy's heart was filled with anger, resentment, and hatred.

In front of him, Xeon's sister let out a distorted wail at him, as if she was afraid of the light that was emanating from the spear.

Although he had heard of the substance "Nectar" before, it was the first time he had seen someone important to him being affected by it. The situation... was like a witch's curse.

"My…"

He couldn't utter the word "sister" and could only throw his spear at the strange creature. Darkness had enveloped the night sky, with only a ray of light appearing.

But that brief moment failed to completely drive away the darkness.

His anger has turned into light and become a being that judged the darkness, but the doubt from that day still lingers in his ears.

If a light cannot burn away darkness,

can it still be considered light?

The Attack by the Enchanted Nuska

The two witches targeted Kaleido.

Thanks to the mysterious ability of the rookie, Lord Vicarious was unharmed, but the situation wasn't looking good.

The witches only attacked Kaleido and didn't harm anyone else.

They had the power to slaughter countless people.

Some say they survived by sheer luck.

Others say it was because I arrived that the witches decided to retreat.

But that wasn't it. They survived because the witches voluntarily withdrew.

Whether it was just a whim or part of a carefully planned strategy, we'll never know.

If the two witches had caused chaos, even if we had repelled them, Pharos would have suffered great losses.

Especially since the witches involved were the ruthless Taygeta and the strongest witch, Alcyone.

Compared to the immense darkness, light is as fragile as a candle flame in a storm.

We have to become stronger.

Strong enough to burn away the darkness that engulfs the world.

My name is Amy, and I am a volunteer Warden who is here to take the Warden exam.

Why did I decide to become a Warden? When I was little, monsters attacked our village. There were so many of them—dozens, maybe even hundreds. Despair filled the air as my people lost all hope.

And then, Lord Xeon descended from the sky. The moment his spear gleamed, the monsters vanished in an instant. His descent from the heavens, like a savior, was just too incredible. That's why I decided to follow Lord Xeon and become a Warden.

Have you seen Lord Xeon since then? Hahaha. Actually, when I first arrived in Pharos, I said I wanted to meet him, but I was refused.

I knew I would be rejected. Back then, I was too awestruck to notice, but looking back now, Lord Xeon's expression that day was utterly hollow.

There was no sense of accomplishment from defeating monsters, no relief from saving people. Clearly, he's endured pain far beyond what I can imagine. Maybe… he doesn't even realize he saved us that day.

But I'm not giving up so easily. Once I officially become a Warden, maybe he'll be willing to see me. And when that happens, I'll tell him—because of him, I survived that day. Because of him, I'm here now, standing as a Warden. So no, his path wasn't wrong.

I've heard of it before.

Some people in Pharos support specific Wardens.

Apparently, I have some supporters too.

What do I think about them?

Not much, really.

You look surprised. Did you think I'd be bothered by it?

As long as they're not causing me any trouble, I don't see a reason to stop them.

People have the freedom to believe in and support whoever they want.

And honestly, people find hope in trusting and relying on others.

Hope is important for Pharos.

So if I can be a source of hope for someone, I have no reason to complain.

But... if I had to say something about it…

I actually feel kind of bad for them.

Because… I'm not someone worth looking up to.
