I was born in a small town perched on top of a tall cliff.
When I was little, I secretly climbed down a 300-meter cliff by myself, making it all the way to the bottom. Pretty impressive, right?
Of course, when I got home I was grounded for a week. It was during that week that I learned how to use a bow.

Donna's Day
Shrieking and generally making a ruckus, Donna slung her bag over her shoulders and rushed out of Post Haste.
A few days earlier, she had arranged with Mrs. Yorl from town to pick up some letters for delivery before the market opened.
Bad news: she had overslept by an hour.
Good news: five minutes later, she managed to hop onto a carriage heading to the market.
Morning, 9:00 a.m.
Donna reached Mrs. Yorl's house just before she left and collected the letters that needed to be sent, along with a pie Mrs. Yorl had baked that morning.
She thanked the woman, watched her leave, finished the pie in her hands, and set off on the day's work.
First stop: the dessert shop next to Goodwind Homecare.
Not long ago, the shop owner mentioned to Donna that she wished customers could enjoy their desserts at home. Donna suggested an idea: customers could contact the shop through the communication Artifact, and Post Haste would handle delivery and collect payment on the shop's behalf.
That way, the owner would only need to pay a small delivery fee to have desserts brought straight to customers' homes.
The owner loved the idea, and today was the day they signed the contract. Donna brought the documents and established the partnership officially with the dessert shop.
Noon, 12:00 p.m.
Donna received a message from Freesia saying Post Haste had run out of tissues and asking her to pick some up on the way back.
After lunch, as Donna passed by the tailor's shop, Mrs. Vincent pulled her inside. She explained that her youngest daughter, Lily, admired Donna and her friends' free-roaming lifestyle and wanted to know if she could join Post Haste.
Donna, thrilled, was left speechless when she met Lily—a five-year-old girl clutching a toy car and insisting she wanted to go on adventures with Donna.
"Well... When you grow strong enough to carry one of our delivery boxes, come find us at Post Haste!"
After calming the little girl down, Donna left the tailor shop.
She stopped to collect a few letters waiting to be sent, then headed to the Trekker Association to pick up Post Haste's delivery subsidy for last month.
Afternoon, 3:00 p.m.
Donna's bag was now filled with the letters she had collected in the day. In her left hand were the spoils from her shopping excursion at the market, and in her right hand a small cake the dessert shop owner had given them. Suddenly, a faint melody drifted through her mind—the sound from a strange Artifact she had encountered not long ago. She vaguely remembered the beginning going something like...
"Children at your feet..."
How did the rest go again?
Evening, 6:00 p.m.
Donna returned to Post Haste just before dinner, loaded down with bags.
"I'm wiped out—I knew it, I should have waited till you two are free so we can go into town together—!"
Freesia took the things from her and said gently, "Thank you. You've worked so hard. We made dinner..."
"Huh...?"
"But Teresa said we were short on time and kicked me out of the kitchen."
Soon, Teresa's voice came from the kitchen. The girls sat down together for the meal, trading the stories of their day.
Night, 11:00 p.m.
In the quiet of the night, after running around all day, Donna lay in bed and looked at the large box of letters neatly stacked beside it, thinking about Post Haste's plans for the days ahead.
"There seem to be quite a lot of letters bound for Emor... Maybe we should make a trip there next week..."
The blueprint of the future remained unfinished as Donna drifted off to sleep.
Tomorrow would be another day.
The Letter Carrier Girl
At first, Trekkers would often see the girl who delivered letters at the headquarters of the Trekker Association.
She carried a longbow on her back and sifted through the delivery commissions, picking out old letters that had remained undelivered for years. Then, she would disappear for a while.
When she showed up again, her bag would be empty, and she would be rummaging through a new stack of letters.
She said her name was Donna, and that she was a courier.
A courier?
Why would somebody keep running around just to deliver letters? Most Trekkers found this incomprehensible.
But whenever someone asked her, Donna would always smile and explain... Or rather, try to sell the idea.
"Sure, Trekkers usually take along letters they can deliver on the way. But the unlucky out-of-the-way letters just sit there forever."
"Every letter carries the sender's feelings. I don't think they should be left lying silent in a mailbox, so..."
"Do you want to team up? I'm sure more and more people will soon take part in this great cause!"
Most of the time, Donna received nothing more than polite smiles.
After all, the commission fee for delivering letters was meager. Who would go all their way for such a tiny reward?
Donna understood the difficulties, but she wasn't discouraged by them.
Some things simply had to be done.
It's a big world, and somewhere along the way, she was bound to meet companions willing to walk the same road with her.
Now here comes Donna the courier again, rummaging through the delivery commissions. Hm? What's that she's putting up on the notice board?
"Grand opening of Post Haste! From snowy peaks to rainforests, you write, and we deliver—we will make sure every mail reaches its recipient!"
Weapon Anecdote: Domina
"That doesn't really matter. What matters is that this bow has been blessed by Lady Luck. It's a blessing of love. Whether Donna grows up liking bows or not, as long as she carries it, I'm sure she'll find the happiness meant for her."
"Right you are."
This baby girl was born of love and hope. Surely Lady Luck would watch over her as well.
With that thought in their hearts, the young parents carved their wishes into the limbs of the bow.
"To our beloved Domina. May the Goddess grant you her blessing and protection."
"I've made up my mind! I... I want to become a Trekker, too!"
"I'm gonna be like that courier, carrying all those feelings and thoughts that haven't been able to reach their recipients."
Tears still hadn't dried from the girl's face. She clutched the yellowed letter in her hand and gave voice to her dream.
The determination in her gaze shone just as brightly as it had when her mother once decided to set out on her own journey.
"You really are their daughter."
The woman who had raised her all these years sighed softly and took a cloth-wrapped object from a dust-covered chest.
"This belonged to your parents."
"They once said that if the day came when you chose to become a Trekker as well, I should give it to you."
Layer by layer, the wrappings came undone. The red longbow, marked by the passage of time, rested in its little owner's hands.
Years had blurred the engraving on the bow's limbs, leaving only a few faint letters that could still be made out.
"Domina? Is that this bow's name?"
The girl traced the worn letters with her fingers, gently running her hand along the bow.
This was something her parents had once used. Their love had reached her across time. In the instant she took the bow into her hands, it became like a warm spring breeze, lingering quietly around her.
This was the story before her journey began. The beginning of her faith.
A girl born from love and hope set out on the road that belonged to her.
"Thank you for taking care of me all this time."
"Donna, setting off!"
