The Shape of a Day
Suikoden STAR LEAP spreads its progress across a lot of small systems, and most of them lose value silently when you leave them alone. Minigame stamina stops regenerating at the cap, an empty training slot earns nothing, and free daily coins simply do not carry over. None of it is expensive individually, and together it adds up to a large share of your account growth.
This is the short version of what to touch and when.
Every Day
Empty your minigame stamina. The pool caps at 4 and regenerates one point every 6 hours, so any time spent sitting full is regeneration thrown away. Spend down to zero whenever you log in, and use the minigame guide to pick the games that produce what you actually need.
Buy stamina bottles from
Chloe
. Minigame bottles cost 500 Potch, which is trivial once trading is running, and the bounty bottle costs 12,500 Potch. Buying the cheap ones out every day is simply correct. Cities also stock bottles once you have cleared their sidequests.
Take your three chinchirorin rolls. The bar hands you 5,000 coins daily and allows three gambles per day in total, whichever opponent you pick. Neither the coins nor the rolls carry over, and the coins buy resources and materials in the exchange.
Run all five Nightmare Battlefield entries. Losing costs nothing but the entry, so there is no reason to hold them. Refresh any Nightmare that looks out of reach, skip the battle animation, and bank medals toward universal shards. Details in the Nightmare Battlefield guide.
Climb the Perpetual Chamber and whichever elemental chambers are open. The Perpetual Chamber is available every day; the five elemental chambers rotate on a weekly schedule covered in the Mirage Tower guide. Borrow a friend unit each run, since that is where friend points come from.
Check your training slots. Two characters gain EXP hourly and two gacha characters accumulate shards. An empty slot produces nothing at all, so keep four names in there permanently — ideally characters you plan to use later rather than ones already levelled.
Cook. Cooking costs no minigame stamina, so it is uncapped free progress. Bond rank B unlocks a character’s Support Ability and bond ranks feed the 108 Stars Tablet, which makes this the single most repeatable thing in the game.
Refresh trading stock if you are hunting something specific. City stock refreshes twice for 5,000 Potch. It pays for itself when you already know which good you want and wastes Potch when you are browsing.
Every Week
Spend your friend points. Borrowing a friend unit in the tower pays +5 points up to a cap of 100 per week, which works out to twenty uses. Hitting that cap is easy if you are climbing daily.
Clear the weekly Exploration run. The first Exploration dungeon resets weekly and the second appears to open on a four-day cycle and needs two teams, so plan the roster before you start.
Sweep cities at night. Some sidequests and some chests only appear after dark. Any city you cleared in daylight probably still has both waiting, and sidequests are what raise city affinity for trading.
Exploration
Exploration is the roguelike mode, and it pays medals for the exchange shops plus items to appraise for Potch.
The rules that matter:
- Floors cannot be replayed and bonuses do not carry between floors, so each run stands alone.
- Battles run on a 25-action limit with bosses excluded, which is generous enough that the turn count is rarely the problem.
- Health and special-skill charges persist across the run. Failing ends the dungeon outright, which makes conserving both the actual difficulty.
- You pick a bonus as you progress, and you can receive the same bonus more than once. The pool covers elemental damage up, elemental defence up, physical and magical defence up, physical and magical attack up, unite damage up, and maximum HP by a percentage. Immediately before the boss you are offered revive all fallen fighters and fill the special skill gauge.
Because health carries and specials carry, the run rewards clearing early floors as cheaply as possible and saving both for the boss. Bonuses that stack the same effect repeatedly are usually stronger than spreading coverage, since nothing in a single run needs broad answers the way a Phantom Battle does.
First Week Priorities
If you are early and want to know what actually matters, the order is roughly this.
- Clear city sidequests, including the night-time ones. City affinity gates trading, trading gates Potch, and Potch gates skill levels and stamina bottles. Everything downstream is faster once this is done.
- Cook constantly. Bond rank B unlocks Support Abilities and bond ranks are four of the six tablet missions.
- Keep all four training slots filled. It costs nothing and broadens the bench you need for matchup-based fights.
- Start Nightmare Battlefield the day it unlocks, both for the medals and because daily runs are what recruit the companion who administers it.
- Push the Perpetual Chamber for skill materials. Skill levels are among the largest single power increases available to you.
- Hold off on refreshing anything with crystals. Nightmare entries and similar refreshes are expensive, and the same crystals go much further once your roster is stronger.
